A tap extractor is a specialized tool designed for removing broken taps from workpieces, such as threaded holes. When a tap breaks during the tapping process due to excessive torque, improper operation, or material issues, its fractured section becomes stuck inside the hole, making removal difficult with conventional methods. The tap extractor, through its unique design (e.g., reverse spiral flutes or collet mechanism), effectively grips the flutes or end of the broken tap, allowing reverse torque to be applied to unscrew it. It is an essential rescue tool in machining, maintenance, and assembly operations.
